Globally Networked Learning Info Session for Faculty
The Office of International Programs will host a Globally Networked Learning info session which will address the process for embedding virtual exchange into coursework as well as faculty funding opportunities for the 2023-2024 academic year. Faculty are invited to attend the information session in person in CHHS 207 or virtually on February 3 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Register for the session by filling out the expression of interest form.
Seeking Feedback on Outdoor Events
Student Affairs is seeking all feedback related to planning and executing outdoor events on campus. Please submit your comments by Wednesday, February 15.
urbanCORE Civic Engagement Coordinator and UNC Charlotte Student Honored for Community Engagement
urbanCORE Civic Engagement Coordinator and UNC Charlotte student, David Rodriguez, has been selected for outstanding leadership and service by North Carolina Campus Engagement. Rodriguez is a recipient of the network’s Community Impact Student Award (CISA), which honors one student leader at each member school. Rodriguez, a senior majoring in Public Health, has served as the Civic Engagement Coordinator with the 49er Democracy Experience, where he partners with student organizations and student leaders to build momentum for voter education and voter engagement at UNC Charlotte. Teaching with Poll Everywhere
This workshop will introduce faculty/staff to Poll Everywhere, and how to use the student response software in classroom and other learning spaces. During the workshop participants will explore how to get registered and create polling content within Poll Everywhere. We will guide you on downloading your class roster from Canvas into Poll Everywhere and how to export grades from the polling responses into Canvas.

New Canvas Quizzing
This workshop will teach you the basics of creating quizzes in Canvas for assessments using the New Canvas Quizzing Tool. We will also show you how to migrate classic quizzes to new quizzes. We recommend it for anyone new to quizzing in Canvas or creating new quizzes from scratch.

Getting Started with Active Teaching and Learning
Active learning requires students to be engaged in their learning rather than being passive listeners. To enhance learning, students must speak, write, think deeply, and collaborate with others about the content and concepts presented in class. This workshop provides an introduction to active teaching and active learning strategies that can be used during class. This workshop counts towards the Essentials of Teaching and Learning Certificate.

Supporting International Student Success
The purpose of this workshop is to provide information in order to help faculty better understand the international student perspective and experience. With increased understanding, faculty can be better advocates for their students, therefore supporting their success both in and out of the classroom. The workshop will explore the unique perspectives, expectations, and roles of the professor-international student relationship. Topics such as class participation, verbal/non-verbal communication, anxiety triggers, and academic integrity will be covered. This workshop is delivered by Denise Medeiros, Associate Director of the International Student Scholar Office, within the Office of International Programs.

Advisors and faculty can request a one-on-one or team session surrounding best practices topics of your choice. Best Practice sessions can be held during department meetings and in collaboration with your Advising Systems Liaison.
