In August, UNC Charlotte will implement Concur for travel and expense management. This change supports the need to streamline university travel and expense processes while ensuring policy compliance. Concur will be available to most faculty and staff starting Thursday, August 1, 2024. Rest assured, we are fully committed to providing comprehensive support during this transition. More information, including details about town hall sessions and training, will be readily available on the Concur project page to ensure a smooth and successful adoption of the new system and minimize disruption as much as possible. We will continue to update the campus community as plans are finalized.

Are you working on an innovation that you think could benefit society or become a business? Join 400+ UNC Charlotte faculty and students that have already completed the National Science Foundation Regional I-Corps program. The next cohort for innovators kicks-off on May 20. The virtual program supports your customer discovery process as you start to speak with industry and potential customers. Upon successful completion of the program, you are eligible to apply for the $50,00 NSF I-Corps Teams grant. Applications are currently open and are reviewed as they are submitted, closing May 10. More information and the application form can be found on the NSF I-Corps webpage. For any questions, email Devin Collins.

The Office of Sustainability has openings in its faculty development workshop to encourage curriculum innovation. Faculty who would like to develop a new course module or a new course that addresses sustainability issues are encouraged to apply and earn a stipend. The workshop will be led by Nicole Roberts (Engineering Technology & Construction Management) and Kristina Shull (History). The three-morning workshop will be held May 15-17. Application details can be found on the Office of Sustainability’s Teaching webpage.

Writing and Renewal
Do you want to connect with nature and other writers? Community-engaged faculty are invited to join us for “Writing and Renewal.” For six Wednesdays starting May 22, participants will begin in the Botanical Gardens with a guided mindfulness, aesthetic, or educational activity, or by simply taking in the gardens on their own. Afterward, we’ll meet in light-filled Sycamore Hall to set goals, engage in discussion, and write in community with others. Sponsored by urbanCORE, the Writing Resources Center, and the Botanical Gardens. For more information, contact Holly Middleton

Hybrid / Online Writing Groups
Do you need flexible scheduling to accommodate your busy summer? Join a hybrid or online group of other researchers who will help support you and keep you on track. Dates and times will be determined by participants. For more information, contact Holly Middleton.
