On April 25, 2024, the Faculty Council approved revisions to UNC Charlotte Academic Policy: Course Numbering and Status.

UNC Charlotte Faculty officially approved the adoption of an Open Access Policy for the campus. The policy affirms the faculty’s support to deposit a version of their scholarly article in Charlotte’s institutional repository, Niner Commons, which will make the university’s research open to the global community. It also allows for the Atkins Library to take a more proactive approach in identifying and populating the repository to preserve the research output of the university. To learn more about the policy and how it will be implemented, please visit our Open Access Policy page on the library’s website.

Earlier this year, the College of Health and Human Services shared the news that the College’s application to transition to accreditation as a school of public health had been accepted by the Council on Education for Public Health. As part of the self-study phase in the accreditation process, some organizational changes have been made. Effective July 1, 2024, the Department of Public Health Sciences will become two academic units — the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health and the Department of Health Management and Policy. These changes were endorsed in March by the Faculty Council and were approved by the Chancellor in April. These changes will be reflected in the 2024-2025 Catalogs.

University Communications is gathering information about research and other projects across campus that involve or apply artificial intelligence. The work can be supported externally or internally, related to the work of a University center or a specific lab, or designed to maximize teaching and learning; it can be interdisciplinary or not. We are hoping to learn as much as we can to develop a content editorial calendar for 2024-25. If you are interested in being part of this process, please email susan.messina@charlotte.edu by Friday, May 24.

Join the presenters as they discuss what steps employees and managers are expected to undertake when an employee is about to return to work after being on FMLA or another approved medical leave of absence. Learn about the documentation that is required and the type of communication that is expected to occur between the employee, the manager and the Human Resources Department to accommodate a smooth transition back to the workplace after the expiration of leave. Presenters: André Lindsay, Senior Associate General Counsel for the Office of Legal Affairs and Deidra Harris-Lumpkins, Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and University Affirmative Action Officer

  • Thursday, May 30, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, via Zoom (Register)
