September 3

As we head into cold, flu and COVID season, many students will likely need to miss class for illness. Please note that the University no longer provides, nor requires, any documentation regarding COVID for class absences. Students should work directly with their professors if they must be absent.

Please do not request that students provide proof of COVID testing to be absent from or return to class. While the Student Health Center does provide testing for COVID, it does not provide documentation for class absences. Make sure you are also reviewing the CDC’s current COVID guidance, which can be found by visiting the Niner Nation Cares website

You are asked to use good judgment and your discretion when working with students who must be out of class for a short period of time to recover from an illness. As always, the Office of Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS) is available to help students who must miss class for extended periods of time due to prolonged illness or other emergencies. However, SASS does not provide any verification specific to COVID.
