Special Message on Health and Wellbeing

Faculty and Staff:
The end of the academic year can be both exciting and challenging. This year has also brought additional changes and uncertainty to higher education. We want to take a moment to connect because your health and wellbeing are important to us.
There are a variety of resources, activities and initiatives available to Charlotte employees to help you recharge, relax and stay connected. We encourage you to explore these options.
- The Employee Assistance Program offers access to free, confidential counseling and resources on financial, legal and work-life matters.
- The Headspace Care app offers confidential, on-demand emotional and mental health support for your life challenges through coaching via text-based chats, self-care activities and video-based therapy and psychiatry.
- The University Recreation Center (UREC) offers annual memberships to University employees. Gain access to all UREC facilities, group fitness classes, equipment check-out services, towel rentals and use of daily lockers.
- The Office of Learning and Organizational Development provides individual and organizational learning opportunities and events for Charlotte employees. For instance, there are upcoming seminars on navigating burnout and strategies for managing email.
- The Center for Advancing Faculty Success offers a variety of year-round programs designed to support faculty and administrators in advancing their careers through promotion and leadership opportunities.
- Recognize a staff member that has gone above and beyond by submitting them for a Golden Nugget Award, sponsored by Staff Council.
- Attend a 49er athletic event and cheer on our student-athletes. Faculty and staff receive special pricing to Charlotte 49ers athletic events.
- The campus events calendar lists several free campus events open to faculty and staff to attend.
- The Office of State Human Resources offers employees an opportunity to join Perks at Work, a free employee discount program that offers discounts on name brand, practical and luxury items.
- The Office of State Human Resources offers monthly wellness webinars to help improve your mental and physical health. Discover nutritious recipes, get the inside scoop on topical health and safety issues and learn more about taking care of your mind, not just your body, in these valuable sessions.
- Employees are eligible to apply for small, short-term loans through the Emergency Loan Fund to help cover unexpected, emergency expenses. These loans are interest-free and available in amounts up to $250.
Please know that we support you in your health and wellbeing.
We’re in this together!
