Call for proposals: Media Literacy Matters Conference

The Atkins Library Critical Media Literacy Collaborative is hosting the conference Media Literacy Matters: Empowering Critical Thinkers in a Digital World on Thursday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Faculty interested in presenting a lightning talk on media literacy can submit proposals.

Atkins Library begins OA Policy Support

Per the faculty-approved UNC Charlotte Open Access Policy, the university will begin supporting faculty with disseminating their work by archiving a copy of peer-reviewed journal scholarship in Niner Commons, UNC Charlotte’s scholarly repository. Learn more.

Faculty Survey on Open Access Publishing NeedsAtkins Library would like to learn more about the faculty’s open access publishing needs. We invite faculty to complete a one-page survey, which should take 3-5 minutes on average. Your input will help the library to engage faculty groups more effectively with information, policies, and negotiations to further the goal of making open publishing easier.

Faculty Forum for Associate Professors interested in learning about Promotion to Full 

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success offers a Faculty Forum once a year in an effort to provide clarity to mid-career faculty regarding the criteria for promotion from Associate Professor to Full Professor. Dr. Jennifer Troyer, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the Deans or their appointees serve on a panel, in which panelists provide information on pathways to promotion. The format is interactive, so faculty have the opportunity to ask questions during the session. Members of Department Review Committees (DRC) and College Review Committees (CRC) are encouraged to attend to ensure that all involved in the review process have a common understanding of expectations and other issues.

Recently-Tenured Associate Professor Orientation

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success invites associate professors who have received tenure in the past 2 years to attend our annual Recently-Tenured Associate Professor Orientation. The goal of this orientation is to clarify expectations around this next phase in your professional journey; to provide information about formulating a plan; and to introduce you to resources that will help you to be successful. The format will be an interactive panel discussion. The panel will consist of Deans from each College, or their representatives.  It’s never too early to start planning for the next phase of your career!
