Applications Accepted for Associate Dean in the Honors College
Applications are invited from the UNC Charlotte faculty for the position of Associate Dean in the Honors College. The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Honors College, including the curriculum and co-curricular experiences in the University Honors Program (UHP), the curricular and programmatic relationship between UHP and department/college honors programs, the development and assessment of department/college honors programs, and overseeing Honors College course scheduling, advising, programming, staff and budgeting. The position will begin July 1, 2024.
The Honors College provides academically motivated students access to robust curricular and co-curricular experiences designed to foster curiosity, community, and connections with the city of Charlotte. We offer students the opportunity to take interdisciplinary seminars with excellent faculty and connect them with sustained partnerships outside the classroom in undergraduate research, study abroad, community engagement, internships and more. The Honors College at UNC Charlotte administers the University Honors Program and supports 29 disciplinary honors programs across campus, as well as providing honors courses, advising, scholarships and programming. Ideal candidates for this position hold tenure in a UNC Charlotte Department with 8+ years experience in higher education and evidence of progressively increasing level and scope of responsibilities. The ideal candidate possesses specific experience with curriculum development, general education, and honors education; strong resource planning, organizational, analytic, communication, and leadership skills; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse faculty/staff/student body; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with unit staff and faculty, as well as across department/college boundaries in a university setting; and program and annual reporting experience.
