Lucy Holman is currently Associate Provost, Teaching, Learning & Library Services and Dean of the Library at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). Prior to arriving at UNCW, Dr. Holman served as Dean of the Library at the University of Baltimore.

Dr. Holman is responsible for the UNCW Library as well as the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Distance Education and eLearning. During her tenure at UNCW she has led the team for the planning and construction of a 90,000-sf expansion and led the library to develop a new strategic plan.  As UNCW transitioned to R2, she led efforts in expanding scholarly research services, growth in UNCW’s institutional repository, support for open publishing and educational resources, and implementation of a data analysis and data management support program.  She has worked in the community to form partnerships with local institutions and schools and to promote library programming for Wilmington residents.  Additionally, she serves as the managing editor of the Journal of New Librarianship; her research interests include library leadership and advocacy, search interface design, and user experience.

Dr. Holman received a BA in Journalism and History from UNC Chapel Hill, MS in Library Science from UNC Chapel Hill and Doctor of Communications Design from the University of Baltimore.
