Atkins Out Loud – The Charlotteans 
Atkins Out Loud welcomes the Charlotteans, UNC Charlotte’s Women’s Chorus, to celebrate International Education Week with songs in various languages and musical styles representing different cultures, including traditional folk songs, raga jog, and calypso.

Winter Break Library Closure
Atkins Library will be closed from Sunday, December 14, through Tuesday, January 6, 2026, to allow for major electrical upgrades that will modernize the building’s systems. Please review the schedule for library services and resources, including important deadlines for pickups, requests, and the return of materials, equipment, and laptops.

The Free Expression and Constructive Dialogue Task Force announces the opening of applications for faculty to participate in the Spring 2026 Constructive Dialogue Faculty Learning Community. Join a group of colleagues to learn how to incorporate constructive dialogue into your courses. Faculty who complete the learning community will receive a $500 stipend. Matthew Metzgar, Clinical Professor of Economics, will lead the faculty learning community which will feature a variety of guest speakers. Applications close on November 26. Apply here.

UNC Charlotte is partnering with Coursera, one of the world’s leading online learning platforms, to provide every student, faculty, and staff member free access to Coursera Career Academy. Career Academy expands opportunities for Niners by offering flexible, short-form credentials that build on the foundation of UNC Charlotte’s degree programs. These certificates are designed to enhance academic learning with applied, industry-specific skills that support career development. With Career Academy, Niners can pursue industry-recognized certificates from organizations such as Google, IBM, Meta, Intuit, and Salesforce in areas including data analytics, UX design, IT support, cybersecurity, digital marketing, project management, and more. These are self-paced, hands-on programs that require no prior experience—making them an accessible way to complement classroom learning with workplace applications. Read more.

urbanCORE Workshop: RPT Narrative

urbanCORE’s Holly Middleton, PhD, and Professor Kim Buch of Psychological Science invite community-engaged researchers or teachers to a workshop on writing a compelling narrative for RPT. Participants at any stage of a reappointment, promotion, or tenure goal are welcome. It’s never too early to develop the story of your work!

Best Practices in Holistic Faculty Recruitment

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success (CAFS) and their collaborators who facilitate Best Practices in Holistic Faculty Recruitment, will offer a virtual training session in November. This will be the last training session for 2025. If you know your department will convene a search committee this academic year, or if you have already been selected to sit on a search committee, please make sure you have taken this training within the past five years. This training is required before a faculty member is permitted to sit on a search committee. Faculty recruitment training is a two-part training and each part must be completed prior to serving on a committee. Please visit the CAFS website to see what faculty are required to do before serving on a search committee and to sign up for the November session.

Peer Mentoring Circles

Join the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success for Peer Mentoring Circles. These facilitated, interactive mentoring sessions, which are open to faculty of all appointments, will provide information related to topics of interest to newer faculty at UNC Charlotte. In addition, they will provide opportunities to help you engage with one another and build support networks with other new faculty and faculty at different ranks at UNC Charlotte.
