December 8

Co-hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Honors College honor societies, the Faculty/Staff Social will be held today, December 8, from 4:00 – 6:00pm in the Halton Reading Room in Atkins Library. This will be an opportunity for faculty and staff across the institution to relax and socialize at the end of the semester. Food and beverages will be provided.

This session will explore strategies for resolving entrenched conflicts by shifting the focus from rigid positions to underlying interests. Using a real-world case scenario involving graduate employee negotiations at a public research university, we will examine legal and ethical considerations, identify shared interests, and discuss practical approaches for collaborative problem-solving. Participants will gain insights into reframing disputes, fostering constructive dialogue, and developing solutions that protect relationships while addressing core needs. Presenters: Scott Deyo, University Ombuds and Erica Solosky, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Ethics, Policy and Compliance and Interim Deputy General Counsel.

  • Tuesday, December 16, 12:00 – 1:00 PM, via Zoom* (Register)
*Registrants will receive the Zoom link prior to the presentation.

Faculty Forum for Associate Professors Interested in Learning about Promotion to Full

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success offers a Faculty Forum once a year in an effort to provide clarity to mid-career faculty regarding the criteria for promotion from Associate Professor to Full Professor. Dr. Jennifer Troyer, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the Deans or their appointees serve on a panel, in which panelists provide information on pathways to promotion. The format is interactive, so faculty have the opportunity to ask questions during the session. Members of Department Review Committees (DRC) and College Review Committees (CRC) are encouraged to attend to ensure that all involved in the review process have a common understanding of expectations and other issues.

  • Thursday, March 26, 10:00 – 11:00 AM, location TBD (Register)

The format will be an interactive panel discussion. The panel will consist of Deans from each College, or their representatives.  It’s never too early to start planning for the next phase of your career!
