UNC Charlotte’s Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) abstract submission system opened today, January 20. Save the date for URC 2026, which will take place on Friday, April 24, in the Popp Martin Student Union. The URC showcases the creativity and research of our undergraduate students. The Office of Global Learning invites faculty to register for information sessions on how to submit Globally Networked Learning proposals. Globally Networked Learning (GNL) is an innovative and collaborative approach to teaching and research that enables students and instructors from different locations around the world to participate in learning and creation of knowledge together virtually, or in a hybrid fashion. GNL widens access to international experiences for all students and prepares them with global competency skills via collaborative online learning with peers across the world. Join the Office of Legal Affairs for a critical overview of University Policy 716: Youth Protection, and the mandatory transition to the Teamworks software system, our new centralized compliance and participant registration platform. This session will define the non-negotiable standards for program reporting,  staff vetting, and supervision ratios required to protect minors in University-sponsored programs. We will cover the specific responsibilities of Authorized Adults and Program Organizers, including background check clearance, mandatory reporting protocols, and program registration. Attendees will learn how Teamworks streamlines these complex requirements, transforming policy into practice, to ensure the University maintains the highest level of safety, accountability, and institutional integrity in all youth programming. Best Practices in Holistic Faculty Recruitment Face-to-Face Workshops: January 

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success (CAFS) and their collaborators who facilitate Best Practices in Holistic Faculty Recruitment will offer a virtual Face-to-Face Session on Wednesday, January 28 from 10:00-11:50 a.m. If you know your department will convene a search committee this academic year, or if you have already been selected to sit on a search committee, please make sure you have taken this training within the past five years. This training is required before a faculty member is permitted to sit on a search committee. Faculty Recruitment Training is a two-part training, and each part must be completed prior to serving on the committee. Please visit the CAFS website to see the criteria and to sign up for a session.

Workshop for Administrators: Leading with Purpose Through Times of Change with Tambra Jackson, Professor and Dean, Indiana University Indianapolis

This workshop examines how administrators can lead with clarity and purpose amid sustained change.. Emphasis is placed on practical leadership behaviors—intentional listening, clear communication, professional judgment under ambiguity, and maintaining focus on mission-critical priorities. This workshop offers insights for sustaining organizational resilience and responsible stewardship during times of disruption—affirming that while contexts shift, purposeful leadership remains essential.

Charlotte Faculty Connect Social Event: New Year, Better You – Healthy Eating Made Simple

This workshop is designed for faculty who are constantly on the move and want simple, practical ways to eat healthier without spending hours in the kitchen. We’ll cover quick meal ideas, smart grocery shortcuts, and easy grab-and-go options that work for busy workweeks, long meetings, and unpredictable schedules. You’ll leave with realistic strategies you can use right away to feel more energized and less stressed about food. Because of the space in the demo kitchen, there is a max of 15 people for each session, which will be based on registration order. You will receive a calendar invite if you are in the 15.

Faculty Forum for Associate Professors interested in learning about Promotion to Full 

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success offers a Faculty Forum once a year in an effort to provide clarity to mid-career faculty regarding the criteria for promotion from Associate Professor to Full Professor. Dr. Jennifer Troyer, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the Deans or their appointees serve on a panel, in which panelists provide information on pathways to promotion. The format is interactive, so faculty have the opportunity to ask questions during the session. Members of Department Review Committees (DRC) and College Review Committees (CRC) are encouraged to attend to ensure that all involved in the review process have a common understanding of expectations and other issues.

The Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success invites associate professors who have received tenure in the past 2 years to attend our annual Recently-Tenured Associate Professor Orientation. The goal of this orientation is to clarify expectations around this next phase in your professional journey; to provide information about formulating a plan; and to introduce you to resources that will help you to be successful. The format will be an interactive panel discussion. The panel will consist of Deans from each College, or their representatives.  It’s never too early to start planning for the next phase of your career!
