International Women’s Day Nomination Submission
The Office of International Programs (OIP) joins the broader global community in recognizing International Women’s Day (IWD) in March and invites you to submit a nomination for our 2023 IWD campus celebration. This celebration is an opportunity to highlight a UNC Charlotte faculty, staff or student who identifies as a woman and has positively contributed to global efforts. Those who have been nominated will be recognized at the International Women’s Day celebration on March 23, 2023. International Women’s Day is an event celebrated throughout the world and fosters the mission to help forge gender equality. The deadline to submit a nomination is February 22. Legal Training: Navigating Medical Leaves of Absence
Employees, do you know what your responsibilities are when taking a medical leave of absence? Supervisors, do you know what’s required of you when your employees are on medical leave? This program will cover relevant University policies, and explain employees’ obligations when taking and while on a medical leave of absence. The program will also cover supervisors’ responsibilities and best practices to support their employees while they are on medical leave and ensure a smooth transition back to work. “Fostering Constructive Disagreement in Student Discourse”
Kevin Marinelli will share practical insights gleaned from his experience teaching rhetoric and directing the Program for Public Discourse at UNC Chapel Hill. He will focus on constructive dialogue in the classroom and across campus, including approaches to public dialogue and deliberation, classroom exercises and student development. Participants will leave with a toolkit of rhetorical activities, best practices and theoretical perspectives.

Are you interested in making your course more affordable, but unsure exactly how to go about it? Learn how the library can support you to find and implement open textbooks for your courses to lower the costs for students. We will showcase prominent examples, places to look, and discuss the services of specialists that are available to you. We will also give you resources on how to use and adapt these materials in your classroom. This workshop is delivered by Liz Siler, Associate Dean for Collection Services and Jeff McAdams, Science and Engineering Librarian, Atkins Library.
