The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) is the oldest, largest, and most selective honor society to recognize and promote excellence in all academic disciplines. UNC Charlotte’s Chapter of PKP has thousands of members with new, high-performing students invited each semester. Our chapter is currently in search of faculty and staff to serve on the executive board. This is a low-stakes leadership opportunity available to both members and non-members of Phi Kappa Phi who would like to get more involved on campus through student-centered events and community service. Responsibilities include:

  • Promoting Phi Kappa Phi and the love of learning to students
  • Attending monthly virtual meetings & occasional in-person events starting in the Fall
  • Brainstorming ways our chapter can better serve our campus through events and service projects
  • Serving on subcommittees as you are interested
  • Taking on various positions (Secretary, incoming Treasurer, and President-Elect positions are currently open)

If you or anybody you know would be interested in serving our campus in this way, or if you have any questions, please reach out to phikappaphi@charlotte.edu!

The 2025-2026 schedule of Faculty Council and Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) meetings is available on the Faculty Governance website. The first FEC meeting will be held Thursday, September 11, at 1:00 PM. The first Faculty Council meeting will be held Thursday, September 25, at 1:00 PM. The deadline for placing items on the agenda is approximately one week prior to the actual meeting date. Since most items must also go through one of our faculty governance committees for their review and recommendations, the entire cycle should be considered in meeting your organization’s needs.

The Code of Student Academic Integrity has been recently revised to make the language more understandable and the processes easier to follow for both students and faculty members. Changes include:

  • adding provisions about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI);
  • adding a new category of prohibited behavior, “Failure to Comply” with faculty instructions related to academic integrity;
  • adding an “Outcome-Only Hearing” option for cases where a student takes responsibility for their behavior, but disagrees with the outcomes proposed through a Facilitated Resolution;
  • adding a new “Graduate Students” chapter to highlight the heightened academic integrity responsibilities and expectations of those engaging in graduate coursework; and
  • changing the Informal Resolution form from paper to electronic routing through DocuSign.

Join the presenters as they explain some of those changes and highlight how faculty can apply the new policy provisions as they embark on the Fall 2025 semester. Presenters: Kaela Lindquist, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Accountability & Conflict Resolution; Terry Shirley, Chair, Academic Integrity Board; Amy Kelso, Senior Associate General Counsel

  • Wednesday, August 27, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM, via Zoom* (Register)

*Registrants will receive the Zoom link prior to the presentation.
