April 20

The Office of Student Accountability & Conflict Resolution is currently seeking nominations and applications for the Student Accountability Board (SAB). We invite you to share this opportunity with students who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and a commitment to the University’s values.

The SAB serves as a cornerstone of UNC Charlotte’s commitment to academic integrity and student growth. As members of our peer conduct board, students adjudicate formal hearing panels for academic and conduct violations. This high-impact leadership role requires students to rigorously evaluate evidence, navigate complex policy frameworks, and reach fair, policy-based conclusions. Through this process, SAB members develop advanced analytical reasoning and interpersonal skills while fostering a campus-wide culture of accountability. Please review the SAB Slide Deck for a comprehensive overview.

Why Students Benefit from SAB:

  • Leadership & Intellectual Growth: Students manage complex cases that challenge their critical thinking, sharpen their empathy, and build ethical decision-making skills.
  • Professional Development: Members refine their communication and high-level collaborative skills while networking with University faculty and staff.
  • Institutional Impact: Students serve as active stewards of Charlotte’s community standards, influencing conduct policy and upholding the integrity of the Niner community.

Eligibility: Any undergraduate or graduate student in good academic and conduct standing is welcome; prior policy violations with the Student Accountability & Conflict Resolution office do not disqualify students.

  • Please share the SAB Application link with any students who you believe would be a good fit or are interested in joining.
  • If you have students in your courses or organizations who you believe would be a strong fit for this board and prefer that I reach out to them, please contact Kiley Tomes, Assistant Director of Student Accountability & Conflict Resolution, with their names and UNC Charlotte email addresses.

Digital Accessibility Compliance Alert

By April 24, 2026, all public entities, including UNC Charlotte, must ensure their websites and mobile apps comply with a technical standard that requires websites and digital tools to be usable for everyone, including individuals with disabilities. This means all digital instructional materials, documents, forms, audio, video, and websites produced after April 24, 2026, on the University’s behalf, must comply with The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA, which is the technical standard required by the Department of Justice’s regulations implementing Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Campus April Accessibility Awareness Month

With the launch of the University Policy 319: Accessibility of Web Content and Mobile Applications, the campus is moving beyond compliance to a “culture of care.” Accessibility isn’t just a technical requirement, but a pedagogical commitment that ensures all learners have universal access to course content.
