October 19

The Graduate School and the Chancellor’s Office are calling for nominations for the 2027 Harshini V. de Silva Graduate Mentor Award. Established in memory of Dr. Harshini de Silva, an associate professor of biology, this award recognizes a full-time member of the graduate faculty who embodies outstanding mentorship. The recipient will be honored at the Spring Faculty Awards Ceremony held on the UNC Charlotte campus and will receive a crystal obelisk, a framed citation and a cash prize. Final Deadline is October 30, 2026.

Join Professor Mira Frisch, who will share her experiences creating and leading a UNC Charlotte faculty-led study abroad program for the first time in S. Korea. She stepped outside her area of expertise and her comfort zone to create a program that she hoped would appeal to a wide variety of undergraduate students in need of general education credits. She hopes her experiences may help other faculty build their own successful study abroad programs! RSVP here to attend the event on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 12-1 pm, PMSU 262.
